The Importance Of Pregnancy Ultrasound In Obstetric Emergencies cannot be over emphasized.
15% of pregnant women may belong to the group that may experience obstetric emergencies– ultrasound can aid it their diagnosis.
Obstetric emergencies may present with pain in the pelvis and hemorrhage per vagina.
Timely treatment is secondary to early diagnosis and subsequent better prognosis.

 

A research paper in the American Journal of Roentgenology written by Y. Kaakaji, et.al. suggested that many obstetric emergencies show characteristic features on ultrasound scanning images.
This is the reason why pregnancy ultrasound is a popular modality used to aid in the findings of  through clinical history and physical examination.

4D baby scans can aid the assessment of Down’s syndrome.

The physical or mental problems associated with Down’s syndrome diagnosis cannot be prevented. It is therefore important to identify babies at risk of this conditions so help and support can be offered to prospective parents.

The findings in sonography and diagnostic modalities can aide in the preparation of interventions for the baby once born and to prepare parents emotionally.

It is highly recommended for pregnant moms with positive screening test, or moms who are pregnant at 35 years up and with abnormalities in the family to undergo a confirmatory test.

Experiencing the diagnostic test is a choice and a risk for each mother to decide on and the American College of Obstetrics allows this.

These test are known for their almost 100% accuracy.

The downside of the procedure however is the increased risk for abortion and other complications in the pregnant mother.

Not all babies diagnosed of DS have abnormal existence–some may live healthily like babies who do not have the same problem.

There are various tests to diagnose and confirm presence of Down’s Syndrome.
